Three-Chord Lectionary:
Doves' "Kingdom of Rust" for Lent 4B

Three-Chord Lectionary is my new project here at Music Spectrum where I am attempting to identify at least one song for each week of the three-year lectionary. The readings for Three-Chord Lectionary will be based on the Revised Common Lectionary used by many denominations. More information about the RCL can be found at www.textweek.com.

Doves' song "Kingdom of Rust," the title track from their 2009 electronica-infused Britrock album, lifts up a tremendous chorus line of faith: "My God, it takes an ocean of trust in the kingdom of rust." Working with Ephesians 2:1-10, appointed for Lent 4B, but also Revelation 11:15-19 (not in the lectionary), let this song lead you to once again see that living in this world requires a tremendous amount of trust in God--which only He can supply by His Spirit working in our hearts.
